For the exhibition “Seek Merry Hell” 6 artists were asked to offer their vision of the apocalypse.
The theme of apocalypse is interesting because of it’s multiplicity. It is a Phoenix-like moment, expressing fears of death and destruction while also containing stories of heaven and reincarnation. There are religions that posit apocalypses as happening every several thousand years in a cycle that is endless. Apocalypse can be a constant state of revolution or the final narrative.
This echoes my process of making art which I think of as a form of repetitive prayer that attempts to uncover the creative force within amidst the entropy and noise of modern culture.
